LEADING PIR MANUFACTURER RECTICEL SHORTLISTED FOR COVETED INDUSTRY PRIZE

Recticel Insulation’s inventive ‘room in a roof’ system which enables the installation of a fully-insulated pitched roof in a matter of hours has been nominated for a top industry award.

L-Ments®, a prefabricated, modular roofing panel system, is among entrants shortlisted in the Product Innovation Category for this year’s Structural Timber Awards which celebrate the best in building with the world’s leading mainstream, low-carbon construction material.

Kevin Bohea, Commercial Director at Recticel Insulation said: “To earn a nomination as part of this prestigious award is tremendous honour. In L-Ments®, we know we have a superb product, but for it to gain greater recognition within the industry is especially gratifying.”

The awards, which have drawn 200 entries from across the structural timber sector, commend outstanding examples of prefabrication and factory-based methods, products, systems and disciplines that strive to develop a sustainable, streamlined and cost-effective way to deliver a better-built environment. The overall winners will be announced at a ceremony being held later this year.

Designed to offer U-values of between 0.13 and 0.19 W/m2K, L-Ments®, a lightweight cost-effective modular roofing panel, comprises breather membrane, counter battens and integral structural timber along with high performance PIR insulation. The PIR insulation core offers low thermal conductivity at 0.023 W/mK, and the timber rafters incorporated within the core offer sufficient strength for self-support. The panels are available in four thicknesses and five lengths up to 6.5 metres.

Mr Bohea added: “Our technical teams have created a roofing panel which sets a benchmark for PIR insulation due to its performance and ease of installation. We are incredibly proud of our product, which is proof of our desire to create better-insulated and more comfortable living spaces for future generations to enjoy.”

This year’s Structural Timber Awards take place at the NEC in Birmingham, on Tuesday, October 10th.
